Quan’s first hit single, Type of Way, was released in 2013. It reached number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100, garnering him significant recognition. In 2015, his single “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” became a global hit, peaking at number 26 on the chart.

Rich Homie Quan’s Biography
Quan was born Dequantes Devontay Lamar on October 4, 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. While he was still in school, he was an avid lover of literature. In an interview, he said his teacher had always encouraged him to read his books and take his studies seriously.
Before switching to music, Lamar played baseball while he was in high school at Atlanta, Georgia’s Ronald McNair Sr. High School. He played for four good years before moving to the University. He dreamt of playing professionally and was very hopeful, especially during his freshman year in school.
Quan was also offer scholarship from Fort Valley State University, but due to other school expenses, he was forced to quite after a few weeks. He soon found a job in a nearby airport and started working.
Lamar’s life completely changed when he got involved in a burglary incident. He was sentenced to jail for a year and three months. While in prison, he began to take reading very seriously. He made mention that while he was in prison was when he truly read and understood what he was reading.
Rich homie quan soon came out of jail after serving his sentence. In an interview with XXL, Lamar said; “I never saw myself going this far with music. Music was just a hobby at first. I never saw myself being on stage and rocking out shows. After I got out of jail, I started to take it more serious and that’s when my dream came true.”

Rich Homie Quan had four sons when he was still alive. His eldest son, Devin, was born in 2006, and according to sources, Lamar never knew about him until five years later.
Unfortunately, rich homie wasn’t married but built a dedicated relationship with Amber Williams, his baby mama. Lamar and Amber Williams co-parented their two sons together.
On September 29, 2014, Lamar’s father, Corey, was involved in a robbery case which led to him being shot during the operation at a barber shop in Atlanta, but he survived.
